The continuation of a success story: The application for the Get Going! working grants 2020 is now online.
When we first announced Get Going! in 2018 as a start-up funding program, it was not clear whether this new form of funding would be accepted. We turned our funding model on its head, putting content before form, and hoped to keep pace with the changes in the Swiss music scene.
The success exceeded all our expectations. And now, after a pandemic has virtually halted cultural activities, I firmly believe that Get Going! will enable us to respond even more effectively to the current situation. Artists have had to either postpone their plans for the coming months or even put them on hold. Nothing is clear anymore and much of what used to be practice-oriented is now hanging in the balance as a theoretical thought.
But a crisis can also be an opportunity. Suddenly there is room for new artistic approaches. And this is exactly where Get Going! comes in. The four start-up funds of CHF 25,000 each will enable Swiss musicians to work creatively beyond the existential threat.
I am already looking forward to the numerous applications, which will once again demonstrate the artistic potential of the Swiss music scene in all its diversity!
